We should talk! My husband and I have been planning our unretirement for over a year. I write about it in my substack. Next up: long stay visitor visas which we are in the process of getting now.
Thanks for the article and your Substack. 55 years old, let go of a corporate job at the start of the year, working on my location independent business now while paying COBRA for health insurance. Navigating this with Crohn's Disease may be an extra challenge, but one that I'm ready to take on.
Good read! I hadn’t thought of Mexico as a residency option previously… not sure why, it just wasn’t on my list. But I’ve been spending more time here recently and am starting to seriously consider it. Canadians aren’t going bankrupt over healthcare, but we often can’t access even basic care. Specialists and surgery can take years. Turkey has also been on my radar for “medical tourism”… not necessarily living there, but there are some intriguing and affordable private hospital options for preventative care I just can’t get in Canada.
Very helpful! I really like Costa Rica and Mexico but my heart is in France.
My wife feels the same way.

Keep going Vicki, and best wishes!

Lots to chew on! Thanks for sharing, Brian.
